This story revolves around America's fight for independence from England and King George II. There are a lot of familiar people that make appearances throughout the story, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson (before either of their presidencies), Ben Franklin and Patrick Henry. There is also mention of John Witherspoon, the famous ancestor of actress Reese Witherspoon. This book also has a love story that's thrown in the mix between the Frenchman Charles Louis Armand and Virginia native Anne Tillotson (Tillotson, I found out, is a family name of the author's own family). I found the love story only mildly believable but there are some well written capture scenes. Overall, it took me about half of the book to really get into the story and I finished it feeling there was much to be desired.Product details
